Why Hunter loves the forest…

Hunter, Year 6
Glencoe Central Primary School
2024 Photo Competition Winner – Primary School

I like to go walking with my family out in the bush, to find and explore new & amazing sceneries.
I love all of the incredible colours of the wildflowers, the tree blossoms and the native plant flowers.
I close my eyes and breathe in the smell of the gum tree leaves in the warm sun.
I most enjoy the way that walking in nature can make you feel better, especially when we go Geocaching.

It’s amazing to see all the revegetation after the scars from the bushfires, and the interesting shapes that the existing trees have formed.

I think it’s great that I live in the same town as the one forty one nursery, and can see the trees grow right from teeny tiny baby pines, all the way up to the ones that are ready to harvest.

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
