Why Harper loves the forest…

Harper, Year 5
Reidy Park Primary School

I love the pine forest because it feels like a huge green adventure playground! The trees are super tall, and the ground is covered with soft pine needles, so it’s fun to walk on and not too hard if I trip.

It smells amazing too, kind of like Christmas!

There are tons of places to explore and little trails to follow, and sometimes we find cool stuff like mushrooms, weird bugs, and big sticks that we pretend are swords.

I like climbing on the logs, making up games with my family, and pretending we’re on some big adventure.

The forest just feels special, like there’s always something new and exciting waiting to be discovered!

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
