Why Angelyn loves the forest…

Angelyn, Year 11
Independent Learning Centre

Being in the forest takes me away from the reality of the world and that into another, one of calmness and full surrender. It takes me away from the sound of the city and into the sound of pure silence.

It takes me away from the man made structures and creations to the creations that God made.

Connecting with the forest for me is done by being in it and it’s full beauty and wonder. Being in the forest is all I need to connect with it. The photos I have presented are the reason I love being in the forest and shows that being in the forest helps me to connect with it.

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
