Why Lily loves the forest…

Lily, Year 2
Glenburnie Primary School

The forest is a place that I love to go.  I can hear the tweeting of birds and smell fresh country air.

I feel the magic of the forest when I walk through, it feels like little fairies are living there even though they cannot be seen.

On family adventures through the forest, we go on long walks and see little pinecones, mushrooms and moss. Most of the time we see Kangaroos and sometimes we see my favourite animal a wombat.

It’s magical when the sun reflects through the trees, I love the forest.

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
