What Aurora loves about the forest…

Aurora, Year 12
Mount Gambier High School

I love the local forests as it is a way for me to process emotions and de-stress after a long day and a great way to feel good about myself and who I am.

I love the peace within the forests and finding wildlife, different plant-life like trees and flowers, as well as cool terrain like hills and burrows.

Seeing the forests evolve over time with new plants and animals moving in is another great way to feel connected to the local forests.

I feel very grateful that these wonderful forests are so close to home and accessible for daily use.

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
