Silviculture/Pest Control Officer

OneFortyOne is a trans-Tasman business that owns and manages softwood plantation forests and operates sawmills in Australia and New Zealand. We manage over 140,000 hectares of plantation and conservation areas and operate two sawmills in the Green Triangle region of Australia and the Nelson/Marlborough region of New Zealand.

We are seeking applications for a Silviculture/Pest Control Officer to join our Green Triangle Forests Team, focusing on maintaining and enhancing the health of our forests.

The Role:

As a Silviculture/Pest Control Officer, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of our forest health and pest control program. This includes biological, vertebrate, and invertebrate control using integrated pest management techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver vertebrate and invertebrate pest control programs using integrated pest management techniques.
• Implement and maintain the Green Triangle Forests Sirex program.
• Ensure compliance and accuracy in information recording and report preparation.
• Engage and supervise pest control contractors, ensuring the quality of work.
• Contribute to estate planning, management, and protection through silvicultural practices.
• Liaise with neighbours and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
• Participate in fire readiness and response activities.
• Operate and maintain equipment and heavy plant.

Ideally you will have:

• Relevant experience and training in forestry or an agricultural-related field.
• Working knowledge and understanding of silvicultural and forest management practices.
• Ability to work autonomously and meet agreed timeframes.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Current Australian driver’s license.
• Experience with heavy plant operations and firefighting activities or willingness to learn.
