What We Are Looking For

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for leading a team to develop and implement harvest plans and engineering of pre-harvest forest preparation.

The Manager will ensure a strong ahead position, and consistency across both Nelson and Marlborough regions to ensure a clean handover to the supervision team. The Manager will have a strong engineering background, enabling them to take responsibility for all Forests roading networks including ongoing maintenance, opening of access, bridge, and culvert installation.

About You

Collaborative, decisive and a problem solver with a growth mindset are the most important qualities we are looking for in this role. You will bring strong engineering experience, ideally with a qualification in Forest Engineering or Forestry Science. This will be combined with excellent harvest planning skills and experience. You will play a key role in driving the company’s safety culture and ensuring H&S and Environmental compliance.

You will have proven contractor leadership skills and ideally strong team management to develop a high-performing team. You will constantly challenge the status quo, and work to find new and innovative ways to be better at all we do, particularly driving the need to change and adapt to emerging trends in harvesting systems and configurations. You will engage in courageous conversations reinforcing and recognising safe behaviour with people in all situations. A good work-life balance contributing to personal wellbeing is key to your success.

You will possess excellent communication skills and the ability to influence individuals in various environments with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and drive best practice. You will have good commercial acumen and always be looking to improve company performance in engineering and harvest planning.
