What Zoe loves about the forest…

Zoe, Year 3
Mil Lel Primary School

Our family likes to go on walks in the forests. We sometimes see animals like different birds, wallabies and kangaroos. When the trees have fallen over, they are fun to climb on and to walk on them like a balance beam. When you look closely, you can see lots of little flowers popping up. My photo is of an old piece of wood that was going rotten. It looks like a fairy house with windows and magical doorways. I like to imagine fairies living in there.

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
