What Leo loves about the forest…

Leo, Year 10
Homeschool

I don’t go to the forests often but when I do it just feels so cozy and safe, when you go deep into all the trees and you can’t see out of it it just feels like the rest of the world doesn’t exist.

The air smells so nice with all the pine needles, the sound is lovely with the wind going through all the trees, it’s just wonderful. It’s so cozy very in the thick trees, like no one knows I’m there, like I’m sealed off from the outside world.

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
