Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of harvest planning in Marlborough? We are looking for an experienced and strategic Harvest Planner to join our team and play a key role in developing and implementing operational plans for harvesting and roading functions. Based in a satellite office in Marlborough, this role operates within a dynamic regional team of experts, all reporting to management in Nelson. Marlborough provides a strong team culture, and with support from your broader team in Nelson, you will thrive on a position that requires independence, accountability, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion workplace health, safety, environmental risk, and compliance throughout planning phases.
  • Develop and implement Draft, Digital, and Final Harvest Plans, ensuring readiness with road line agreements, consents, and infrastructure setup.
  • Field layout of physical plans, ensuring optimal forest management practices.
  • Manage updates and maintenance of OFO management systems, including GIS inputs.
  • Support the Lead Harvest Planner and provide oversight of harvesting budgets, ensuring financial accountability and monthly reporting.
  • Identify and drive innovations to improve business performance.
  • Supervise contractors to ensure successful implementation of roading and infrastructure plans.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Engage with forest neighbours, councils, and other external stakeholders to manage requirements and approvals.

What We’re Looking For

  • A degree or diploma in forestry, engineering (preferred), or a related industry qualification, or solid experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of forestry, road planning, and environmental compliance.
  • A solid understanding of the Resource Management Act and legal requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and commercial negotiations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and GIS systems.
  • Ability to work independently and be accountable for regional work program
  • A commitment to safety culture, workplace health, and environmental best practices.
  • The ability to travel regionally.
