Our Stories

Today, on International Day of Forests and in celebration of its 10th year of operation, OneFortyOne has released its Annual Review.

The publication summarises the company’s operational, environmental and community activities undertaken throughout the year.

John Gilleland, Chairman of the Board said “2022 was a dynamic year for OneFortyOne. The business successfully navigated numerous divergent forces to deliver for its people, communities, the environment, and shareholders. The work of OneFortyOne employees and partners makes a positive difference.”

Peter Brydon, Interim Chief Executive Officer said that the Annual Review makes it clear to OneFortyOne’s communities and networks the progress the company is making with regard to performance, people and sustainability actions.

“OneFortyOne celebrated its 10th birthday in 2022. During that time we have worked hard to create value whilst making a positive difference in the lives of employees as well as the communities and environments where we operate,” Peter said.

“The stories we share today demonstrate who we are and how we want to evolve. This publication is about recording the history of the company and giving meaning to the work we do. It’s an opportunity to remind ourselves that progress is achievement.”

Peter said that the OneFortyOne team had worked hard over the course of the year, demonstrated by the company’s strong financial performance and delivery of capital investment projects. In addition to strong commercial performance, OneFortyOne has made progress on other important outcomes.

“Targets that drive our continual improvement are critical but the most important thing to our business is that people go Home Safe and Well every day.

“In 2022 we launched the Grow Wellbeing program to support the health and safety of our people. This is just one of our initiatives to reduce critical risks and injuries and support the wellbeing of our people.”

“We have focused on women’s equality and equity in the workplace. Our actions have resulted in greater gender representation. Whilst progress is achievement, continuing to increase all aspects of inclusion within the workplace continues to be a priority.

“Another achievement I am hugely proud of is the Emissions Reduction Strategy. Setting a company target and goal will be instrumental to our future decision making. We are a responsible business and take our community and environmental impact seriously. We want to play a meaningful role in growing vibrant communities. This is why we invest in our long-term partnerships and PINE Community Grants Program.”

Peter said that the purpose of the Annual Review is to be transparent about our operations. “10 years is just the beginning of something bigger. We have faced many challenges, but now more than ever we are looking forward to delivering on our purpose which is to grow a better tomorrow.”

About OneFortyOne

OneFortyOne is a forestry and sawmill business. We operate throughout the Green Triangle region of Australia and the Nelson, Tasman and Marlborough regions of New Zealand (Top of the South).

We manage over 160,000 hectares (ha) of land including pine plantation and conservation areas. We plant over six million seedlings every year, renewably replacing the trees that we harvest.

The timber processed at the OneFortyOne Jubilee and Kaituna sawmills is turned into products that help people build and renovate their homes, construct fences on their farms, and support the landscaping in their gardens.

OneFortyOne is a significant regional employer, we employ more than 500 people directly and over 3,000 indirectly as contractors.

We are committed to the communities where our people live and strive to grow a better tomorrow through our environmental actions and community involvement, including the PINE Community Grants Program.
