Community groups, not-for-profits and school urged to nominate for $50,000 in grants.
OneFortyOne in partnership with The Stand Like Stone Foundation has distributed $180,000 to 18 local community projects since 2014. Over six years the capacity building program has funded vital community projects that have addressed education, the arts, nursing and healthcare, disability and youth support.
The OneFortyOne Community Capacity Building Grants opened in February and local organisations can apply for grants between $5,000 and $20,000 for projects that have a charitable benefit and build capacity in the region. A total of $50,000 is available through this funding round.
In response to COVID-19 OneFortyOne and Stand Like Stone have extended the nomination period to 30 April 2020 and urge organisations dealing with the impacts of COVID-19 to nominate a project that has a positive community impact.
Community projects that address other key needs of the region are also encouraged to apply.
OneFortyOne’s Willie van Niekerk said “We are again fortunate to work alongside our longstanding partner Stand Like Stone to support Limestone Coast communities. The grant program has provided support for projects that provide real and lasting effects in our region. With COVID-19 restrictions putting a strain on towns and businesses it is more important than ever to ensure not-for-profit and community organisations are supported.”
“We invite anyone with a project they think could benefit their community to apply. It’s all about strengthening communities, addressing a need for more services and in 2020, responding to the impacts of COVID-19.”
Stand Like Stone CEO Anne Kerr said the value of these grants is immeasurable.
“The lasting positive effects of these grants are clear. What might seemingly be a small thing, such as funding for a community vegetable garden, upgrading a community hall, or providing school resources, all have a significant benefit to the wellbeing of the wider local community,” she said.
“The investment from the program goes a long way.”
The OneFortyOne Community Capacity Building Grants Program is now open for community organisations, not-for-profits and schools to apply for a grant between $5,000 and $20,000. Applications close at 5.00pm on 30 April 2020. Application forms and further information are available from www.standlikestone.com.au.
