We’re seeking a motivated and capable Harvest Forester to join our team, with responsibilities spanning harvest planning with support to supervision, and engineering. Whether you’re just starting out or bring years of experience, we’re open to considering candidates across the spectrum. About the Role
Based in our Marlborough satellite office, you’ll be part of a dynamic regional team reporting to management in Nelson. This role offers a unique blend of independence and collaboration, with strong support from your wider team. You’ll take ownership of harvest planning while also contributing to engineering design and supervising harvesting operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead health, safety, and environmental compliance throughout planning and operational phases.
  • Develop and implement Draft, Digital, and Final Harvest Plans, including roadline agreements, consents, and infrastructure setup.
  • Conduct field layout of harvest and roading plans, ensuring best forest management practices.
  • Provide engineering input into roading and infrastructure design and implementation.
  • Supervise contractors during harvesting and roading operations to ensure plans are executed safely and effectively.
  • Maintain and update OFO management systems, including GIS data.
  • Support budgeting and financial reporting for harvesting operations.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Engage with external stakeholders including councils, neighbours, and regulatory bodies.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong IT and GIS skills.
  • A degree or diploma in forestry, engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • Technical knowledge of forest operations, road engineering, and environmental compliance.
  • Understanding of the Resource Management Act and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage regional responsibilities.
  • Commitment to safety and environmental best practices.
  • Willingness to travel regionally.
