OneFortyOne’s festive Christmas tree give away

As the region’s largest forestry company, it is fair to say OneFortyOne Plantations has a few Christmas trees out there in its 93,000 hectare estate.

Although the big trees from the forest are destined for local mills, there are plenty of wild pines growing on the OneFortyOne firebreaks and roads that need to be removed.

With this in mind, on December 15, OneFortyOne will gift about 150 trees to the public from its three depots at Mount Gambier, Nangwarry and Mount Burr. The trees will be available on a first come first served basis outside of each depot.

OneFortyOne’s People & Risk Manager, Adam Bowe said, “Our staff have done the hard work and cut the trees down. As a company, we are delighted to be able to make some trees easily available to members of the community who might not otherwise go into the forest and get themselves a real tree”.

If you are planning on snagging a tree in the give-away, please remember you will need to make sure you can safely and legally secure your load on the way home.

Depot Locations:
152 Jubilee Highway East, Mount Gambier, SA 5290.
Riddoch Highway, Nangwarry, SA, 5277
Mount Burr Road, Mount Burr, SA, 5279

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
