Project Officer – Forest Digital Twin

Location: GT Forests Office, Mt Gambier, SA, AUS

Reporting to the Manager Resources and Planning, the Project Officer will lead Forest Digital Twin projects in line with the current program plan.  Leading the completion of projects the role will advance our digital value creation model to enable better decisions through data for years to come. This will be achieved by working with a multi disciplined team and the practical application of technical skills in LiDAR remote sensing, machine learning, coding, algorithm development, data analysis and system management to solve problems and develop industrial strength applications. You will also:

  • actively participate in collaborative research with universities and external partners.
  • promote a safe and positive workplace culture in line with OneFortyOne values and purpose. 
  • Provide regular progress reports to the program steering committee and broader business.
  • identify, recommend, implement, and lead new continuous improvement projects.  

Ideally you will have:  

  • a degree in Forest Science, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering.
  • experience in end-to-end R&D project management, including project scoping, business case development, change management and project tracking.
  • solid problem-solving skills backed by strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • experience engaging with users and stakeholders in the business, to understand their needs and ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose.
  • advanced quantitative and analytical skills, backed by strong computing skills, including exposure to scripting/coding (i.e. R, Python, MATLAB) and Geographic Information Systems.
  • Australian working rights without restrictions.
  • a current Driver’s Licence.
