OneFortyOne has written a submission to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Matters Relating to the Timber Industry in the Limestone Coast.

Forestry and timber industries are critical to the regional prosperity of the Limestone Coast and contribute almost $2 billion to South Australia’s annual revenue (Food, wine and agribusiness 2019 Discussion Paper, Government of South Australia). Our submission details how, as a local business, OneFortyOne contributes to the region and where we see opportunities to strengthen forest industries.

We look forward to the outcome of the Parliamentary Select Committee because we believe that the submissions and discussions will identify how the industry can grow to meet Australia’s growing wood fibre demand whilst remaining sustainable and respectful of community and environmental needs.

Our submission is available here.

OneFortyOne acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia and their deep connections to land, water, and community. We pay our respect to Elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations people today.

In Aotearoa New Zealand, Māori communities have a strong spiritual connection between people and the land – the wellbeing of one sustains the wellbeing of the other. We strive to build meaningful relationships with iwi as tangata whenua (people of the land/region), to be responsible intergenerational kaitiaki (stewards/guardians) of the land where our forests grow.
