Resource & Planning Forester

Resource & Planning Forester

Full time

Location: Nelson Forests Office, Richmond, TAS, NZ

Applications close: 3 June 2026

  • Shape the future of one of New Zealand’s iconic forest estates
  • Enjoy a fantastic outdoors lifestyle
  • Competitive salary + great benefits!

We’re seeking an experienced Resource and Planning Forester to join our professional forestry team to support strategic forest planning.

About us

OneFortyOne NZ manages 80,000 hectares of land across a stunning landscape at the top of the south. This includes a 62,000-hectare production of tree crops and over 10,000 hectares of native vegetation.

You’ll be based in our brand-new Richmond office — an engineered timber building right beside the Great Taste Trail, with views across vineyards to Mount Arthur. Coffee, sunshine, trails and forests: all right on your doorstep.

About the role

As our Resource and Planning Forester you’ll get the best of both worlds. Enjoy the technical challenge of measuring, modelling and guiding the present and future of our estate, whilst also knowing your work has real-world impact and directly shapes our long-term planning, operational decisions and forest value.

No two days will be the same. From managing the tree measurement programme and undertaking growth and yield estimations, to analysing the cost-benefits of tree crops and providing strategic insights and estate modelling for our long-term plan, this role offers variety! You’ll also enjoy working collaboratively across all teams as part of the forest resource and silviculture team.

About you

We’d love to hear from you if you have experience and genuine interest in technical forestry skills such as estate modelling, YTGen or similar growth and yield software, as well as GIS. You’ll enjoy using your strategic forest planning skills and working collaboratively with others to maximise estate value. Skills (or the desire to learn) in R or SQL would be preferred.

Excellent communication skills, initiative and the ability to provide innovative solutions are essential!

What we offer

At OneFortyOne we know our people are the cornerstone to our success, and we’re passionate about being a great place to work. We offer:

  • Base salary $90,000 – $123,000, depending on skills and experience
  • Fantastic benefits including life insurance, income protection and EAP
  • A role that works across all levels of the business
  • Open, supportive team culture
  • Real opportunities for personal and professional development
  • Access to mountain biking, tramping, hunting, fishing and three national parks within an hour’s drive
